The Big Review
The ultimate Android smartphone, at the moment
The HTC One X is a killer phone. Even though its extra large screen is its small drawback, To understand most elements of the design influence, you need to look at the phone placed vertically on a flat surface, you will also notice some curve on the top and bottom. The only issue with this phone is that its 8 MP camera bulge out at the back, and when placed flat, the phone rests on the camera. While it is plastic throughout, I believe that it is the unibody design that lends this solidity.
You can see the camera bulging out.
A 1.5 GHz quad core processor powers the HTC one X, and this is the first superphone to be launched in India. Not to forget, it is smartly paired with 1 GB of RAM.
There is 32 GB built-in storage, out of which the user gets about 25 GB. However there is no memory card slot for memory expansion. One another issue is also there with the SIM is that it uses a micro SIM, instead of the standard SIM, instead of the standard SIM that we are using in our phones, mostly.
In the real-world usage scenario, the ONE X feels like any dual cored powered processor smartphone, for the most part. However most apps loads quicker, and games are definitely a smoother experience. But despite having of 1 GB of RAM there is never more than 250 MB. The background processes, and lots of them for that matter, eat up a whole lot of RAM.
The 4.7 inch super IPS LCD2 is definitely among the best I have seen in the smartphones. The color temperature is on a lighter side when compared side by side with an AMOLED display but take the advantage when comes to wider viewing angles and infinitely crisper text. Brightness levels are quite superb as well, and so are the black-level depths.
Cameras on most smartphones are flatter to deceive, but this one is probably the best of the lot. And it can easily stand up to the one in the Iphone 4S. No need to change the modes between the photo and video by toggling the slider. What this does is the reduce one step in the process, and saves on swith over time. Photo quality is much better than expected. The camera isn't over over sensitive to light changes.
The interface is probably the biggest change over the older gen of HTC smartphones and that's because Sense 4.0 seems to have been built from scratch. There is a constant effort to tone down the visual effects puch of the UI., something that allows more focus on the redesigned look of Android ICS.
Battery life is a disappointment, with a quadcore processor under the hood and a 4.7-inch display, the 1800 mAh battery will struggle to survive throughout the day.
This is probably the best Android smartphone you can buy, at least in terms of raw performance. The display is one of the best around, and so is the camera. disappointments are battery life and HTC sense.
So, if you were thinking of buying an Apple Iphone 4s but thinking to try Android this the best device out here.
